We are delighted to announce that Alica Švejkovská, a graduate of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague, has received the Dean’s Award for an outstanding bachelor’s thesis.
Alica completed the Laboratory Diagnostics in Healthcare program at the Department of Health Sciences and Population Protection. She wrote her bachelor’s thesis at the Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in our laboratory.
This prestigious award is presented by the dean to only one student in each field of study within the faculty, and thus represents significant recognition of the quality and academic level of the bachelor’s thesis.
The award-winning thesis, which focused on the heterologous expression of a newly discovered biosynthetic gene cluster using the DiPac method, was completed in our laboratory under the supervision of Stanislav Kadlčík, Ph.D. The thesis focused primarily on the preparation of a vector for heterologous expression, the integration of the vector into the tested host strains, and the bioinformatic analysis of the genes in the cluster.
We greatly appreciate the award that Alica has earned, and we are pleased to share in this success. With this award, Alica is a distinguished representative of our laboratory and its scientific work. Congratulations!
