Objective of the project:
This project aims to bring a new perspective to the study of gene functions in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii by identifying synthetic genetic interactions among nutrient metabolism genes. Through an innovative interdisciplinary approach involving the use of available single mutant strains from Chlamydomonas Library Project (CLiP) collection, established genetic tools, and the generation of haploid double mutants via crossing, this project seeks to uncover complex interactions between metabolic pathways. By serving as a foundation for future large-scale synthetic interaction studies, this project goes beyond current methodologies in studying genetic functions in C. reinhardtii, impacting the research field of metabolic regulation in photosynthetic organisms
