Centre of Algae Biotechnology
The ALGATECH Centre is an important research facility of the Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, focusing mainly on research in the field of monitoring the basic life processes that take place in algae and cyanobacteria and on algal biotechnology. The research also includes the development of new instruments, methodological procedures for monitoring photosynthesis and education of students in these spheres. The Centre collaborates with laboratories almost all over the world on scientific projects and more and more students and colleagues from abroad come to work here, who seek the Centre because of the unique research methods and techniques developed in the Centre’s laboratories.
