On 29 April we celebrated the International Day of Immunology

This year’s event was special for us, because we commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Jaroslav Šterzl, who was the founder of the Czechoslovak Immunological Society and the department of Immunology and Gnotobiology at IMIC.

We joined international societies to honor the Day of Immunology and we are delighted to share with you photos and summary of that day.

The Day of Immunology was established by European Federation of Immunological Societies in 2005. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of the immune system and advances in its research. This year’s topic was “Brain and Immunity: Immunological Insights into Neurological Disorders.”

This year’s event was special for us, because we commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Jaroslav Šterzl, who was the founder of the Czechoslovak Immunological Society and the department of Immunology and Gnotobiology at IMIC. On this occasion, we unveiled his memorial plaque.

Irma Schabussova (Medical University of Vienna), Jan Frič (International Clinical Research Center at St. Anne’s University Hospital, Brno) and Martin Havlíček. In the morning session GnotoCon, there was a series of short talks moderated by Martin Schwarzer (Laboratory of Gnotobiology). The afternoon block CYI Mixer was organized by a group of young immunologists (CYI, Czech Young Immunologists) and at the end there was a panel discussion AI & Science.
