Michal Koblížek has become a professor in the field of Hydrobiology

Doc. Mgr. Michal Koblížek, Ph.D., head of the Laboratory of Anoxygenic Phototrophs at the Institute of Microbiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, ALGATECH Center, was appointed professor in the field of hydrobiology. Congratulations!

This appointment is in recognition of his long-term scientific work, significant contributions to the field of hydrobiology, and role in the development of research and education. The ceremonial presentation of the appointment decree took place on 16 December 2025 in the Great Hall of Carolinum in Prague, where the decrees were handed over to the new professors by President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, in the presence of Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Robert Plaga. A total of 69 new professors were appointed on this occasion.

The proposal for Michal Koblížek’s appointment as professor was submitted by the Scientific Council of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, where he also participates in teaching. Michal Koblížek, has been working for a long time at the IMIC detached workplace – Centre ALGATECH in Třeboň, where he leads the Laboratory of Anoxygenic Phototrophs.
