Summer School of Tumor Microenvironment and Immunity

The 3rd edition of the summer school took place at the chateau in Nové Hrady in the South Bohemian Region, on 24-27 June 2025.

10. 7. 2025

The IMIC-CIS Summer School of Tumor Microenvironment and Immunity welcomed Czech and international doctoral students and beginning postdoctoral researchers. A panel of 19 internationally recognized experts (from Czech Republic, Germany, Italy – in presence – and USA and Israel by recorded videos) gave lectures covering the most important aspects of tumor microenvironment immunology, the recent advancements and the new prospectives in the field, including inflammation, immune suppressive cells, microbiome, advanced microscopy, and Artificial Intelligence. For the first year we also had a lecture about ethics in science and research.

The summer school was organized by Luca Vannucci, head of the Laboratory of Immunotherapy at the Institute of Microbiology of the CAS and president of the Czech Immunological Society (CIS). The aim was to offer participants not only an insight into current scientific knowledge, but also a space for professional discussion, establishing cooperation, and sharing experiences in a friendly and open atmosphere.

The program also included a poster section in which selected young scientists presented their research activities, during the last session three posters were awarded. Besides talks and poster section, participants had the oportunity to attend two lectures with practical demonstration that illustrated the phases for developing and validating biological treatments.

We would like to thank all participants and look forward to the next Summer School on Tumor Microenvironment and Immunity in 2026!

The meeting was held under the auspices of the National Institute for Cancer Research – NICR – funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU and the European Federation of Immunological Societies – EFIS. The event was supported by Mabtech-Biomedica, SOTIO, and Dinex companies.
