Ecosystem for sharing freely available proteomic data: Expanding its functions

Projects

Project objectives:

The main objective of ODEEP-EU is to supercharge re-use of the public data in proteomics. This reuse of open data is driven and enabled by open and shared source software tools and pipelines, and revolves around three key aspects: (i) the creation and curation of a variety of key, reference data sets, complete with annotation and example re-use paths; (ii) the dramatic lowering of access and reuse thresholds through metadata annotation, concrete, high-profile example use cases, and availability of reusable software tools for re-analysis; and (iii) the integration of the existing frameworks for open source software tool sharing and versioning into the Software Heritage system. We will interconnect and cross-fertilize with different life sciences communities (notably protein structure researchers, biochemists, molecular biologists, and field biologists) in academia and industry. All this to firmly and permanently launch proteomics data and its reuse.

Financial support from the European Union is provided for the given project.
